KADUKKAI - KING OF MEDICINES
According to traditional ayurvedic healers, kadukkai/haritaki/inknut is called “KING OF MEDICINES” and “SARVA ROGA NIVARANI” (that which heals all diseases). It is known for eliminating all waste from the body and promoting good health. Kadukkai fruit is also known for improving physical, mental, and emotional health by naturally removing toxins from the body and giving strong feel-good energy.

ABOUT - "KADUKKAI/HARITAKI/INKNUT"
Terminalia Chebula, commonly known as chebulic myrobalan, kadukkai Maram in Tamil, harad tree in Hindi, harde whole/ ink nut in English, and haritaki in Sanskrit. It is a medium to a large deciduous tree with spreading branches often formed in tiers. It belongs to the family Combretaceae. It is native to India, especially in the lower Himalayas, from Ravi to East-West Bengal and Assam up to an altitude of 5000 feet.
Kadukkai/Inknut/Haritaki plant bears flowers that are small, yellowish, and grow on long white clusters. The fruits are 1-2 inches long, and oval and the back surface has five prominent stripes.
The fruit is the most used part of the tree. It can be used in various forms like decoction, powder, and paste. It can be used for external as well as internal purposes.
APPEARANCE OF KADUKKAI/HARITAKI/INKNUT
Kadukkai/haritaki fruits are green when unripe and become yellowish-brown on ripening. The fruits are one-two inches long, ovoid-shaped, and have five ridges. Each fruit contains one single angled seed. The seeds are toxic and should be removed before using internally.

In Ayurveda seven varieties of kadukkai/haritaki fruits have been mentioned, namely, Vijaya, Rohini, Putana, Amrita, Abhaya, Jivanti, and Chetaki. Each variety differs in its shape, size, and growth because of its different origins. Vijaya and Chetaki are the most commonly available varieties.
Vijaya - Large variety.
Chetaki – Small, unripe, and seedless variety.
