Kambu Idli Recipe/Pearl Millet Idli Recipe is prepared with kambu/pearl millet, idli rice, flattened rice, fenugreek seeds and black gram/black urad dal.

Kambu Idli Recipe/Pearl Millet Idli Recipe is a simple, healthy and nutritious south Indian idli recipe. It is one of the popular millet-based idli recipes. You can easily make this Kambu Idli Recipe within 15 minutes and serve it as a healthy breakfast dish.

INGREDIENTS

Pearl Millet/Bajra/Kambu - 5 cups
Water - as needed

Idli Pot/Idli Steamer

INSTRUCTIONS

1. To begin making the Kambu Idli Recipe/Pearl Millet Idli Recipe - First, take out the Kambu Idli Batter from the refrigerator 15 minutes before cooking.

2. To Cook - Heat an Idli pot/Idli Steamer with enough water to steam the idli and allow the water to roll to boiling.

3. Meanwhile, in perforated idli plates spread the dedicated idli plate cloth or smear oil on idli plates.

4. Now pour a ladle of idli batter into each perforated idli plate. Place the plate in an idli steamer/idli pot and close it with a lid.

5. Allow them to cook for 8-10 minutes on a medium flame.

6. Once the idli is steamed, turn off the flame.

7. Open the idli pot and take out the idli plates carefully, sprinkle some water and allow them to cool for a few seconds.

8. If you used cloth on the idli plates, flip the idli plate into a plate and remove the idli plate from the idli cloth and again sprinkle some water on the cloth. If you used oil for steaming idli, use a sharp spoon or knife to remove idli. Be careful while removing idli.

9. Carefully remove the idli from the cloth.

10. Kambu Idli Recipe/Pearl Millet Idli Recipe is ready.

You can serve Kambu Idli Recipe/Pearl Millet Idli Recipe immediately or store it in a casserole hot box. While serving Kambu Idli Recipe, serve it with Coconut Chutney and Tiffin Sambar.
