How to make Mung Bean Sprouts at home?/How to make Pachai Payaru Sprouts at home?

There are various methods to make sprouts like using muslin cloth, colander or perforated vessel, casserole hot box and sprout maker. I have tried almost all the methods to make sprouts. In that, I find the casserole hot box method is beginner-friendly and also the easiest and quickest to make healthy sprouts at home. The below steps will help you to make healthy Green Mung Beans Sprouts/Green Gram Sprouts/Pachai Payaru Sprouts -

1. To begin making the Mung Bean Sprouts/Pachai Payaru Sprouts - First, use the recently purchased green mung beans. And then manually clean them by removing any dust and debris.

2. To Rinse - Take the Mung Bean/Pachai Payaru in a deep bowl and rinse them in 3-4 exchanges of water. While you do so rub the mung beans gently and rinse well.

3. To Soak - In a deep bowl, add rinsed mung beans and fill them with 5 times of drinking water. Close with the lid and allow them to soak for a minimum of 6 hours overnight.

4. To Drain - Next day or after 6 hours, drain the water from soaked mung beans/pachai payaru using a colander.

5. Again wash the soaked mung beans in 2-3 exchanges of drinking water and put them in the colander to drain water.

6. To Sprout - Take a clean and well-dried Casserole Hot Box and gently spread the soaked green Mung Beans/Pachai Payaru evenly. Close the casserole hot box with the lid.

7. Place them in a dark place on the kitchen countertop. Ideally, place them in a warm place and away from sunlight.

8. Within 6-8 hours mung beans starts to sprout.

9. Allow them to sprout for at least 12-15 hours.

10. After 12 hours, open the casserole hot box and check the length of the mung bean sprouts. If you are ok with the length of the sprouts, remove them from the casserole hot box and use them immediately or store them for later.

11. If you want to sprout further, extend the duration of sprouting accordingly.

12. Within 15 hours, you get fresh and healthy Mung bean Sprouts/Pachai Payaru Sprouts.

13. Mung beans Sprouts/Pachai Payaru Sprouts are ready.

You can use Mung beans Sprouts/Pachai Payaru Sprouts immediately or store them for later use. While storing Mung beans Sprouts/Pachai Payaru Sprouts use a well-dried and clean glass container. Place them in the refrigerator and use them within 2 days for the best taste. Always make Mung beans Sprouts/Pachai Payaru Sprouts in small quantities and use them immediately for the best taste.

How to make Mung Bean Sprouts using a Casserole Hot Box?

Mung Bean/Pachai Payaru is one of the easiest beans to sprout at home. The casserole hot box method is the simplest and easiest way to sprout mung beans/pachai payaru. The below steps will help you to make Mung Bean Sprouts using the Casserole Hot Box.

Timing - 2 days
Yield - 2 cups

INGREDIENTS

Mung Bean/Pachai Payaru - 1 cup
Water - as needed

INSTRUCTIONS

1. To begin making the Mung Bean Sprouts/Pachai Payaru Sprouts - First, use the recently purchased green mung beans. And then manually clean them by removing any dust and debris.
