About - Pachai Payaru Thuvaiyal Recipe

Pachai Pachai Thuvaiyal is a quick and simple recipe that does not require any cooking. Green mung beans (pachai payaru), coconut, red chilli, tamarind, asafoetida, and salt are used to make this dish.

It is one of the oldest thuvaiyal recipes. Traditionally, green mung beans are soaked overnight or for 8 hours before being ground with coconut, chilli, asafoetida, tamarind, and salt.

This pachai payaru thuvaiyal goes well with plain white rice or flavoured rice like lemon rice or coriander rice. Make the thuvaiyal a little spicier when serving with flavoured rice.

Tips for tasty pachai payaru thuvaiyal

1. Even though it is a no-cooking thuvaiyal recipe, I prefer dry roasting pachai payaru (green mung beans) for a few seconds before soaking.

2. Dry roasting them removes the raw small and also adds flavour.
