In this post, I've shared how to perfectly cook Sakkaravalli Kilangu (sweet potato) using the boiling technique. Boiling sweet potatoes is one of the easiest and quickest methods.

Sweet Potatoes can be boiled in a pressure cooker or in an open pot. If you make it in small quantities, use a pressure cooker. If you make it in larger quantities, use an open pot.

How to boil Sweet Potato? | How to cook Sakkaravalli Kilangu?

Boiled Sweet Potato/Boiled Sakkaravalli Kilangu is a simple, tasty and healthy snack recipe. You can easily prepare this recipe within 30 minutes and serve it as a healthy evening snack or lunch box snack.

INGREDIENTS

Sweet Potatoes/Sakkaravalli Kilangu - 4
Water - as needed
Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
Jaggery Powder - 1 tablespoon

INSTRUCTIONS

1. To begin making the boiled sweet potatoes/sakkaravalli kilangu - Keep all the ingredients ready.

2. To Wash - Take the sweet potatoes in a wide bowl and fill it with water.

3. Allow them to soak for 5 minutes.

4. Remove the sweet potatoes from the water.

5. Gently scrub the sweet potatoes to remove any sand.

6. Wash them in 2-3 exchanges of water.

7. To Chop - Chop both ends of sweet potatoes and further chop them into 2-3 pieces.

8. To Pressure Cook - Place the chopped sweet potatoes in a pressure cooker.

9. Add water until sweet potatoes are immersed.

10. Now add salt and jaggery powder.

11. Mix well.

12. Close the lid and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles.

13. Turn off the flame and rest them for 15-20 minutes.

14. Open the pressure cooker and check the doneness of the sweet potatoes.

15. Insert the knife and take it out.

16. If it is cooked, your knife comes out clean and easy.

17. If it is not cooked, cook further for a few minutes or until done.

18. Boiled Sweet Potatoes/Boiled Sakkaravalli Kilangu is ready.
