Khubani Ka Meetha is a delightful and royal Indian dessert hailed from Hyderabadi cuisine. It is a popular Indian sweet served on festive occasions, weddings and large parties.

Khubani Ka Meetha means Apricot Sweet in English. Khubani is an Urdu Word for "Apricot" and Meetha means Sweet.

This classic and rich Indian dessert is made with dried apricots which are soaked overnight and slow-cooked with some sugar and water to a jam-like consistency.

Khubani Ka Meetha is a simple and very unique Indian sweet dish. It has sweet, tangy and fruity taste combinations. You can feel all the taste combinations in the first bite itself.

As I already said, it is a very unique Indian sweet dish, and serving them also has a very unique style. Traditionally, Khubani Ka Meetha is served with malai (cream). However, you can also serve it with vanilla-flavoured ice-creams or custard.

Khubani Ka Meetha Ingredients

Khubani Ka Meetha is a simple dish made with only 3 ingredients - dried apricots, sugar and water. To serve this khubani ka meetha, you can serve it with malai (cream), ice cream or custard.

1. Dried Apricots - Use whole dried apricots. You can buy dried apricots from dry fruit shops. Nowadays, it is easily available in the online markets.

2. Sugar - Use regular white sugar.

3. Water - You can use warm or cold water.

4. Serving Options - Feel free to serve with malai (cream), ice cream or custard.

5. Nuts - Khubani Ka Meetha is finally garnished with nuts, specifically badam-like nuts extracted from the apricot itself. You can also use badam, cashew nuts or your favourite choice of nuts.

How to make Khubani Ka Meetha? | How to make Apricot Sweet?

Khubani Ka Meetha | Apricot Sweet is a sweet, tangy, fruity Indian dessert. You can easily prepare this delicious khubani ka meetha within 30 minutes and serve it as a dessert recipe.

INGREDIENTS

Dried Apricots - 1/4 Kg
Sugar - 1/2 to 3/4 cup
Water - 2 Cups + 1/2 cup
Malai (Cream) - 1 Cup or
Ice cream or Custard

INSTRUCTIONS

1. To begin making the Khubani Ka Meetha Recipe - Keep all the ingredients ready.

2. To soak - Wash the dried apricots with 1-2 exchanges of water.

3. Take apricots in a deep bowl with 2 cups of water and add half a portion of sugar.

4. Soak for a minimum of 6 hours to a maximum of overnight.

5. Next morning, the apricots are soaked well and bigger in size. Drain the water from soaked apricots. Keep the soaked water safe.

6. To remove the seeds - Press the soaked apricots to remove the seeds.

7. Collect all the seeds from apricots and keep them aside.

8. To extract the nuts - Using mortar and pestle, slowly crack the seed and take out the almond-like nut from within.

9. Repeat the above step to collect all the nuts.

10. To remove the skin of the nuts - Heat 1/2 cup of water for a few seconds or until warm. Turn off the flame.

11. Now add in the extracted apricot nuts and soak for 5 minutes.

12. Remove the skin from the nuts and chop them into your desired size.

13. To Cook - Heat a pan over a low flame and add apricots along with the soaked water.

14. Keep stirring and cook for 2-3 minutes.

15. Now add the remaining sugar and cook until jam-like consistency.

16. Turn off the flame.

17. Finally add half of the nuts and mix well. You can add the remaining nuts later while serving.

18. Khubani Ka Meetha Recipe/Apricot Sweet Recipe is ready.

You can serve the Khubani Ka Meetha immediately or store them in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours and serve them later.

When serving the khubani ka meetha, add malai (cream) on top and the remaining nuts.
