About - Capsicum Tomato Roti Pachadi/Capsicum Chutney Recipe

Capsicum Tomato Roti Pachadi (also known as Capsicum Chutney) is a delicious and spicy chutney recipe that originated in the cuisine of Andhra Pradesh. This recipe is typically served as an accompaniment to plain boiled rice and is loved by many for its unique flavour and texture.

The word "Pachadi" in Telugu (the language spoken in Andhra Pradesh) means "Chutney/Pickle". Thus, Capsicum Roti Pachadi is essentially a chutney made using capsicum (bell pepper) and other ingredients. Interestingly, the word "Roti" in this context does not refer to the Indian flatbread that we are all familiar with. Instead, it refers to "Rolu", which is also known as the Indian Mortar and Pestle. Therefore, Capsicum Roti Pachadi translates to "The chutney made from Rolu/Indian Mortar and Pestle".

Traditionally, this chutney is made using a mortar and pestle, which gives it a unique texture and flavour. However, in this recipe, an electric mixer grinder is used instead for convenience as not everyone has access to a traditional mortar and pestle. Although an electric grinder may not yield the exact same texture and taste as a mortar and pestle, it is still possible to achieve a similar texture by following a few simple tricks. In the recipe, detailed instructions are provided on how to achieve the desired texture and taste using an electric grinder.

Overall, Capsicum Roti Pachadi is a delicious and versatile chutney that can be enjoyed with a variety of dishes. Whether you use a traditional mortar and pestle or an electric grinder, this recipe is sure to be a hit with anyone who tries it.
